It is a tall plant (up to 1.2 m) with large yellow flowers with darker yellow nectar guides on the outer tepals, enclosed in pale green, acute spathes; red anthers. Known as a shy bloomer, it appears to be a plant that responds to fire, flowers lasting from mid-morning to late afternoon. In Latin ´ramosissimus´ means very branched, referring to the much branched stem of this species.Their very spiny root system deters moles.
